'Jimmy Muir' was and always will be the true meaning of the word 'Gentleman' = Gentle Man and an absolute pleasure to know.We first heard of Jimmy (and Audrey) through conversations of love with his precious daughter Hilary, our very, very dear friend.Hilarys love and bond for her parents was always the topic of conversation; Hilary a Lady who was loved beyond measure by her Father and Mother. After the tragic loss of Hilary we were fortunate to'built a bridge' to Jimmy and Audrey as her memory lived on within them both. Our time with Jimmy was precious, his Gentle, loving and courageous way he dealt with the loss of his darling Hilary was inspirational and so respectful. The way in which Jimmy lovingly supported and cared for his Audrey and attentively listened was a demonstration of the bond they both shared, something death could never destroy ...We believe and hopethat love and bondJimmy had not only for Audrey but for his Victoria and 'Ludo' (for which he was so proud) will help them and give them strength through the months and years ahead.Whilst there has been the shining 'Methodical, Beautiful and Classy star of a caring daughter over the past few years, now joining that star is a Gentle, Honest and Loving presence of Jimmy ..that will look over and protect Audrey and all the family at this time.Rest in peace precious Jimmy and we hope Hilary will have a pint of Tennents awaiting for your arrival ... with a large Jacobs Creek for herself!God grant you eternal rest and peace to Audrey and al the family at this time.John

Attending a funeral FAQs

View all FAQs >

What should I wear?

We normally associate wearing black with going to a funeral. But it is increasingly typical for families to express a preferred dress code. Our advice is to look out for information from the family in a notice published either in newspapers, online or in the funeral director window to advise you of their preference.

How long does a service last?

Typically a service in most churches or crematoria lasts around 20-30 minutes. A formal mass may take a little longer and we would expect this to be nearer an hour. Finally, burials can vary in length as they are weather dependent.

Where should I sit?

Family and close friends typically reserve the first couple of rows in a service. We recommend sitting nearer the front than the back of a service space in order to support the family and enabling late arrivals to discreetly fill back rows.

Where should I send flowers?

Often a family will express a preference for flowers - or charity donations in lieu of flowers. We recommend you keep an eye on notices posted in newspapers, or online or in the funeral director window so you are able to follow their wishes.
